DPA (also known as state final certification) is the final test for students who graduated from elementary school. As part of this test, all Ukrainian fourth-graders will have to take their first exam in their life. The DPA will reveal the level of knowledge they have acquired and will guarantee the transition to secondary school.
Not so given in the media leaked information that the DPA will be replaced by, that is, it will not surrender within the framework native school, but at the national level. It was only natural that such rumors sparked excitement among students and their parents. Let's figure out together how the exam will be held in 2018, and also find out what subjects will be submitted for certification.
Will DPA be replaced with ZNO?
Not so long ago, information appeared in the press and on the pages of the Internet media that from September 2018, students of the 4th and 9th grades of Ukrainian schools will take compulsory exams in the form of ZNO. The innovation was explained by the transition to a new concept school education, according to which studies from grades 1 to 4 are considered the first educational cycle, from 5 to 9 grades - the second, and education in high school (from 10 to 12 grades) - the third.
At the same time, the high school will provide students with specialized education on the basis of gymnasiums, academic lyceums and vocational colleges... The transition to a new educational level will be preceded by a state examination in the form of an independent external testing of knowledge. ZNO is the door that will open the students even to prestigious institutions for further study.
We hasten to reassure concerned parents: in September 2017, official information appeared that in 2018 academic year no all-Ukrainian testing in the ZNO format will be carried out for pupils of the 4th and 9th grades. However, the Ministry of Education, with the help of the Knowledge Assessment Center, can organize pilot testing, which will involve about 6,000 schoolchildren. Features of DPA for grade 4
For the final certification for primary school students, the following subjects are taken out:
- ukrainian language;
- maths;
- literary reading.
Exam dates are approved individually in each separate school. The final schedule will be announced in April 2018. The main points of the examination:
- DPA takes place in writing, and assignments for it are developed by subject teachers who are guided by the requirements educational programs Ministry of Education;
- students write work during one lesson (45 minutes);
- assignments for students can be written on a regular blackboard, projected onto an electronic board, or distributed to students in the form of separate ticket sheets;
- assessment papers should contain educational material that was studied by students as part of the school curriculum, and assignments should have different levels of complexity and be complex.

DPA in Ukrainian
Tickets can be designed in one of two possible ways. The first scheme provides for a dictation or text to be rewritten, in which some spelling is missing. The work is structured so that the student can show his spelling skills, speech skills, creativity and the ability to express thoughts coherently, therefore it will include additional tasks aimed at identifying and assessing all of the above.
One of the exams will test the students' knowledge native language - Ukrainian - A dictation or text to be rewritten, from 50 to 55 words. About 25% of words should be missing in the text, including spelling, which are exceptions to the rule. A dictation or text can be rated at 6 points.
- Text assignments that test the language knowledge and skills of students. There can be 4 such tasks in total, each of which is estimated at 1 point.
The second form of work involves a combination of dictation (or text with missing words) and tests that check the spelling and speech skills of students. The Ministry of Education recommends the following content of work:
- Dictation or text to be rewritten, 25 to 30 words. About 25% of words should be omitted in the text, including spelling, which are exceptions to the rule. Dictation or text is estimated at 3 points.
- A task of a creative nature, providing for the formulation of 3-4 sentences. This part of the work can bring 2 more points.
- Closed-type test tasks, in which the student will have to choose one correct answer from the three proposed. Each test is worth 1 point.
- Open-ended tests to which you need to give a short answer or match between six components. This part consists of one test and can earn the student 2 points.
- Open type tests with a short answer. There can also be only one such test and is estimated at 2 points.
The performance of all types of work is estimated at 12 points maximum.
DPA on literary reading
The teacher has the right to form two types of exam tickets. The first type is a work based on a text for reading to oneself, as well as tasks for this text, which test reading comprehension, creativity and the ability to express own opinion... The Ministry of Education recommends the following content and structure of work:
- Fictional text unfamiliar to students, containing from 330 to 390 words. The number of unfamiliar words should not exceed 2 units. The maximum sentence length is 12 words. The task is estimated at 4 points.
- A text-based assignment that tests understanding of the meaning of the reading and the ability to work with the text. There can be 6 such tasks, each is estimated at 1 point.
- One creative task in which you need to express your own opinion in writing. The volume of writing should be 2-3 sentences. For such work, you can earn 2 points.
To successfully pass literary reading, practice with your child in advance The second form of the ticket is based on the reading text and test and creative assignments compiled from it. It is suggested to adhere to the following structure:
- Fictional text unfamiliar to students, containing from 330 to 390 words. The number of unfamiliar words should not exceed 1 unit, and sentences should contain no more than 12 words. The task is estimated at 4 points.
- Closed tests, in which you need to choose one answer out of the three suggested in the ticket. There can be 2 tests, each brings 1 point.
- Tests that assume the student will give a short answer. The task is estimated at 2 points.
- Open tests, in which you need to establish a correspondence between 6 components (1 test, for which 2 points are awarded).
- A creative task in which you need to express your opinion on the read literary text. The student must write 4-5 sentences (1 task, estimated at 2 points).
Checking reading to oneself is carried out as follows - students are invited to take pens or pencils and start reading at the teacher's command. After three minutes, the teacher stops reading, and the students put a full stop next to the word they were forced to stop at. The teacher notes the progress of each student, and then gives them time to read to the end so that they can work with the assignments based on the passage. The maximum points that can be obtained for all tasks is 12.
DPA in mathematics
In this case, subject teachers are also given a choice of two possible forms of certification work. The first form looks like this:
- A task in which you need to perform three actions. Evaluated at 3 points.
- An expression with brackets, in which you need to work with multidigit numbers and perform actions in a specific order (1 task for 2 points).
- Task for comparing numbers and converting values \u200b\u200b(2 tasks, 1 point for each).
- The task to find a part of a number (1 task, estimated at 1 point).
- Work with geometric material, consisting of 2 tasks, 1 point each.
- A creative task in which you need to apply logic (1 task, estimated at 2 points).
The second form of the math exam is distinguished by the inclusion of a test part. The student must write down the calculations for the tests and pass them along with the test sheets so that the teacher can see the progress of the work. It is recommended to create a ticket from the following tasks:
- Open-type tests, in which you need to choose 1 correct option out of the three proposed (3 tests, 1 point each).
- Open tests, in which you need to establish a sequence or find correspondences between components (2 tests, 2 points each).
- Open-type tests, assuming a short answer (1 task, estimated at 2 points).
- A problem with a detailed answer (1 problem for which 3 points are awarded).
The maximum points that can be obtained for all tasks is 12.
