    Water with a high pH value\u003e 8.5 (low acidity) can mean that the water is hard. Hard water is not supposed to pose a health risk, but it can cause other problems:
    1. Scale build-up, increase in hydraulic pressure by reducing the inner diameter of the pipeline.
    2. Alkaline taste of water, bitter taste of coffee.
    3. The formation of scale deposits on dishes, tiles, plumbing.
    4. Detergents foam less.
    5. The efficiency of electric water heaters decreases.
    As a rule, these problems are encountered when the water hardness exceeds 100 - 200 milligrams (mg) CaCO3 / liter, which is equivalent to 2-4 meq / l. Water can be softened using ion exchange or using an electronic softener. The use of ion exchange is more economical and causes an increase in the content of sodium ions in water.
