Eastern Economic and Legal Academy of Humanities (VEGU Academy) was founded on January 29, 1993. It has a perpetual license for educational activities, has repeatedly successfully passed the state accreditation procedure, confirming the quality of training and the right to issue state diplomas to its graduates.

Foundation and development
In the very first semester after the opening of the Eastern Economic and Legal Academy of Humanities, law, pedagogical, and economic faculties were opened for training. In addition, eight branches of the university in different cities of Russia, a humanitarian college, a library and the publishing house "Eastern University" are starting their work.
In 1994, the organizational structure of the educational institution is fully ensured, management bodies are formed, the basic topics of basic research and training programs are outlined. The following year, VEGU is recognized by the Civil Code of the Russian Federation as an academy that has passed a licensed audit, the results of which made it possible to carry out educational activities in the field of higher professional education in the field of economics, law, philology, pedagogy, journalism.
Also in 1995, an economic and legal college was opened in Bashkortostan and several other educational and scientific institutions, on the basis of which the Association of educational institutions of a non-state profile "Eastern University" was created. In addition, a newspaper with the same name and the journal "Vestnik VEGU" was founded.
Late 90s
In 1996, institutes for retraining and additional education were opened, as well as research institutes, branches and Togliatti. An objective display of the successful activities of the university was confirmed by the positive conclusion of the State Attestation Commission.
Soon, the first bachelors graduated from the faculties of journalism, philology, jurisprudence, and economics. The results of the work of the examination commission of the Eastern Economic and Legal Academy for the Humanities (VEGU) were reviewed by experts from the State Inspectorate for Attestation of Higher Education Institutions of the Russian Federation, after which the institution received a certificate confirmed by the Ministry of General and Specialized Education of Russia (02/11/1997). In the summer of the same year, the Moscow Institute of Entrepreneurship and Economics was established.
In November 1997, the accreditation board of the MOPO RF decided to recognize the Academy as a higher educational institution, which was accredited with the right to issue state diplomas in the category "Bachelor".
Further expansion
Time dictates its conditions, and the creation of a distance learning center at VEGU becomes a reaction to changing needs in the education sector. The network of representative offices has also expanded significantly: the Sochi Institute has opened from the Eastern Economic and Legal Academy of Humanities, as well as branches in Magnitogorsk, Kumertau, Tomsk. The university received a license for the right to train certified specialists. In 1999, the accreditation board once again recognizes VEGU as having received a legitimate state license with the right to issue diplomas of the "Specialist" level. In the same period, branches of the university were opened in Naberezhnye Chelny and Kazan.
2000-2004 years
At the beginning of the 2000s, an educational children's building was opened at the Academy, which includes a kindergarten, an elementary and Sunday school, a preparatory college for senior students. In Naberezhnye Chelny and Kazan, colleges of the economic and legal direction are starting to work.
In December 2001, the college for attestation of universities adopts another resolution, on the basis of which VEGU teachers are allowed to be awarded the academic titles of associate professor and professor.
In 2002, the Eastern Economic and Legal Academy of Humanities in Ufa undergoes a licensed examination, according to the order of the Ministry of Education dated 02.19.2002. This gives the university the right to carry out educational activities in the field of postgraduate vocational education (postgraduate study). There are seven specialties in this category. In October 2002, the Academy successfully passed state accreditation for the third time. In the same year, the College of Economics and Law began its activities in Almetyevsk.
In January 2003, the university turns 10 years old. The opening of two new buildings of the Faculty of Law becomes a gift for this date. In addition, the Sochi Social and Technical College began to function fully.
In 2004, the Institute of Modern Educational Technologies was created at the Central Education Center. Particular attention is paid to distance learning methods. At that time, INSTO includes almost 30 training centers practicing the technology of remote education.
2005 successes
The Humanitarian Economic and Legal Oriental Academy continues to expand the range of its activities. Another Faculty of Management and Information Technologies is opened. The construction of an educational building in Kazan is nearing completion, which has become a kind of gift to the city on the occasion of its millennium. The university purchases and implements in its structure an automated complex for managing the educational process. The system is known as "Vector Corporate Information Center".
In practice, a new technology of intermediate certification is being implemented by introducing creative works. By the decision of the rector, all INSTO students are transferred to this category in the field of computer testing technologies. Distance learning has also started in Meleuz, Uralsk, Sterlitamak, Buzdyak, Tomsk Institute of Economic and Legal Eastern Humanitarian Academy.
2006-2008: even more achievements
The university is included in the first league in the study "Systems of independent assessment of the professional indicators of graduates in terms of their competitiveness in the labor market." During this period, the Eastern Economic and Legal Academy of Humanities continues to expand. Samara, Magnitogorsk, Kazan are cities in which branches receive a state license.
INSTO develops and approves more than a hundred basic personal training schedules, which take into account the peculiarity of acquiring knowledge using distance learning methods.
In 2007, a new 7-storey educational and administrative building was put into operation (in Ufa). The university is successfully passing the next stage of state accreditation for a period of five years. Certified as part of the Eastern Economic and Legal Academy of Humanities: Sterlitamak Institute, branches in Sochi, Almetyevsk, Shcherbinka. The status of all representations and faculties is equated to institutes.
The year 2008 for the university is significant in that a technopark is opened on the basis of the Sochi representative office, the sphere of which includes the provision and implementation of various technologies aimed at developing and preserving environmental, energy and safe technologies.
2009-2013 years
In 2009 VEGU receives disabled children through distance learning programs and the Open School project.
In 2010, the academy wins the competition in the international format E-Learning ndustry, scientific works of teachers receive awards in several nominations in the competition for scientific educational publications-2010.
In 2011, VEGU becomes a member of the special program "People's University of the Third Age". The institution began to accept pensioners who are taught English and computer literacy for free.
In June 2012, the accreditation board confirms the legitimacy of the university without a single comment. The decision was made by more than 30 experts who confirmed the compliance of the graduates' training level with all federal standards.
In 2013, VEGU is among the top ten best universities in the country. The institution is once again included in the list of participants in the experiment on state support of loans allocated for the education of students receiving higher specialized education.
In 2015, VEGU was recognized by the authoritative professional association of the Russian Federation, which includes the main employers, including the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which issued the university a certificate of certification of an educational institution.
The Bashkir Military Institute of the Eastern Economic and Legal Humanitarian Academy creates additional opportunities for the development of scientific work. Special merits in this direction were made by the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan with the participation of Rector Minnibaev E.K.
VEGU scientists V. Fedorov and S. Egoryshev received grants from the humanitarian scientific foundation on the topics: "Study of the collection of the Bakshay sanctuary of the Eneolithic period in archaeological interests" and "Criteria for measuring and ways to improve the social and legal efficiency of law enforcement."
