Story
The Tyumen State Oil and Gas University traces its pedigree from a training and consulting center opened in Tyumen in 1956, which later became part of the Tyumen Industrial Institute. Tyumen Industrial Institute was founded in 1963. At first there were only 2 faculties. Today there are 8 of them. There are about 8 thousand students in inpatient, evening and correspondence departments. The institute has 48 departments, theoretical courses. 595 professors are doing a lot of research work.
Since 1968, postgraduate studies have been opened at the institute. Institute students have the opportunity to study in three spacious halls of the scientific library, which has 370 thousand books and magazines.
The educational television system operates at the institute, which allows broadcasting within the building of the institute, as well as broadcasting for part-time students.
A large-circulation newspaper "For engineering personnel" is published.

In terms of the number of budget-funded places in technical areas of training, TIU is among the top ten universities in Russia. Several criteria affect the allocation of the number of budgetary places of the Ministry of Education and Science: this is a predicted indicator of the development of the industry for which the university is engaged in training, in the region and neighboring regions. The second criterion: the indicator of the university's activity - the higher the quality of training of specialists, which is assessed according to the methodology of the Ministry of Education and Science, the more budget places are allocated to the university. I would like to note that TIU is a participant in the "Flagship Universities of Russia" program, as well as a flagship university for several transnational companies, which in turn affects its performance.

On July 10, the acceptance of applications for those who enter the full-time form of education on tests conducted by the university ends - these are graduates of vocational education institutions. Including this period for school graduates who enter the areas of training "Architecture" and "Design of the architectural environment", as they pass two additional creative tests: "drawing" and "composition". The novelty of this year is that these tests can also be passed at the branch of the university in Surgut. This was done for the convenience of applicants, since it is much closer to Surgut from the northern cities than to Tyumen.
On July 26, the acceptance of applications for those who enroll on the basis of the USE results for full-time education ends. Applicants for a bachelor's / specialty degree can choose three areas of training. The original documents for one of them must be placed before August 1 by 5 pm. Enrollment will take place on 3 August. If the applicant does not see himself in the lists of those enrolled, then he must come before August 6 and transfer the original as part of his application. The second wave will be enrolled on August 8.
For applicants for vocational education programs, the deadline for accepting documents is August 15, 19 and 24 - the date depends on the form of training and the choice of specialty or profession. On August 21, the originals of the documents must be submitted by applicants for budgetary places in the magistracy.
- Can an applicant increase the chances of going to university using a portfolio?
For individual achievements, an applicant can earn an additional three to ten points. The champions and prize-winners of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, school graduates awarded with gold or silver medals have advantages. Prize-winning places in the Olympiads are also taken into account, in the organization and conduct of which TIU takes part. Schoolchildren can submit to the admissions office the results of their performances at the Mendeleev interregional multidisciplinary Olympiad, the Gazprom PJSC branch Olympiad for schoolchildren, the Golden ArchIdea International Youth Architecture and Art Festival, and the IntraInventor competition.
- New this year is a special bonus program for contractual agreements.
This year, the Tyumen Industrial University has developed a special loyalty program: the higher the USE scores, the lower the cost of studying at the university. Foreign citizens come to us according to quotas, which are allocated by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. In general, universities provide 15 thousand places, TIU has about fifty. Applicants from other countries come to us on a general basis. Representatives of Colombia, Venezuela and Zambia have already confirmed their admission under the quota. In 2017, a student from Zimbabwe will study at TIU for the first time.
Vasily Petrovich, all the same, can applicants calculate the course of action in order to try to protect themselves from not being included in the coveted list of TIU freshmen?
The most correct thing for an applicant, after he passes the exam, receives the total amount of competitive points, is to look at the passing scores of the previous year and compare his chances of admission. In the application, the applicant can indicate up to three areas of training. I always recommend soberly assessing the chances of admission. For example, if an applicant has 195 points, he wants to enter the "Oil and Gas Business" of the Institute of Transport, where last year he had a minimum passing score of 191, there are chances of admission, but there is a likelihood of staying behind the line. Therefore, in the place of the applicant, in my application I would put "Oil and Gas Business" in the first place, the second would indicate the direction of training, which lags behind my results by about 15 points, and the third option would choose such a direction of training in order to have thirty points in reserve, and would follow the formation of the rating.

Applicants can ask their questions by calling the hotline 8 800 700 57 71. In the selection committee, consultations are carried out by specialists of the career guidance department and representatives of educational departments of TIU.

Tyumen State Oil and Gas University was originally called the Industrial Institute and was founded in 1963. The university was opened at a time when the government of the USSR made a decision on the earliest possible development of the wealth and resources available in Western Siberia. Therefore, a specialized institution appeared in Tyumen, the purpose of which was to train specialists who will serve the oil and gas industry.
Initially, the institute was divided into two faculties, as of 1979 there were already eight of them, now their number has increased several times. In 1994, the institution acquired its current name, which it still retains. The university continues to expand, over the past ten years, the number of specialties has increased significantly, however, in some of them only an extra-budgetary form of study is available.
A little about training
As of 2015, the Oil and Gas University of Tyumen is capable of teaching about 35 thousand students annually in various educational programs. Today, the institution is the leading engineering and technical university in the country, where you can receive training in more than 100 programs. Here bachelors and specialists are trained, there are areas of magistracy and postgraduate studies, there are also courses where you can get secondary vocational education and other working professions.
In 2007, the university managed to achieve international recognition, its teachers and graduates have the right to issue a diploma supplement, which will be valid in Europe and around the world. It will be the cheapest to study at the Institute of Management and Business, for a year of study you will have to pay from 52 to 80 thousand rubles.
